Interesting that they removed support for html in posts? Will that effect the code tags and such too?

Personally, I'd let other boards get some of the bugs worked out before switching to it in a production environment. With all those new features, there's bound to be a whole lot of buggage with it. But then again, I don't follow phpbb devel, so maybe all the bugs have already been worked out prior to v3 being released?

I'd be worried about losing all of the posts since there is no way to use an old database on the 3.x versions. I have to agree with what rosc2112 is saying about the bugs thou :!:

That's wrong, you can import or convert your 2.0x board to 3.0x, you can simply create a backup and restore things.. It isn't a issue. Just how Undernet upgraded. They did'nt lose anything but they upgraded..

Just speculating on my part, since the choice is obviously not mine :)

Old saying, "If it's not broke, don't fix it".
Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.

Unfortunately that old maxim can be a dangerous one in the networked world :(

Will upgrade to phpBB 3 in the next few months unless I do something crazy like switch to PunBB  Security will increasingly become a concern with 2.0.xx as the developers will have lost interest in it and not respond to issues as quickly (if at all), so it's inevitable.

EDIT: oops, posted with an unfinished sentence - one of the pitfalls of multitasking :)

It's always good to be up-to-date and benefit from the new features, I agree with slennox and I'm definitely with the upgrade :D

Yeah, but I guess they will support 2.x for at least a few more months. Seeing the change log of 2.x it is also inevitable that the 3.x branch will release some bug and security fixes this year. Though it's pretty impressive that since the release version is still 3.0.0. Seems they made the right decision to wait almost 1 year with the gold release after the first public beta release.

Btw. I really don't understand why HTML post support has been deprecated completely. I understand the necessity to be able to disable it, but I don't really get the idea of not allowing it at all. Well it doesn't really matter as long old posts import properly and you can use BB-Code. ^-^
