Chanserv and the bot

Yes I'm new at this. Yes I've been trying to find this answer for an hour or so before casting myself upon your mercy.
I have an IRC server with IRC services running now and a bot running on that service. I want the bot to have a registered nick, but I am unsure of how to get the bot to send its nick/password combo to chanserv.
help oh mercerful ones.
