please help here my bot runs but it says couldnt create channel file

and warning could not write pid file

please help thank you

The account you run the bot with has write access in the eggdrop's folder, right?

its on my linux machine
i just installed the bot today

When you say installed today, we are asuming you have done the following.

Logged into a user account.
Downloaded and uncompressed the file
configure and make the bot.
Configure the config file

The next step would be to start the bot with the config file, under the same user accouhnt you compiled it with.

Other things to look for could be.

Make sure you have filenames set in the config file, for user, channel and notes files. This also applies to the pid file setting in newer verions.

heres the deal i set the bot up just like it said in the install on this site
and i started it just like it says and it runs but like i said
it says warning cant write pid and cant create channel file
every thing in the conf is right i think

i have done every thing to get this to write these files
i cant fig out some one said something to the fact
does the bot have(write access)
that i dont know or how to give the bot write access

If you created the account the bot is running on, using the normal *nix tools, then the directories and files should have been set with the correct permissions.

Can you give examples of the settings in the config file.
