Because our channel no longer has an owner, and just two active operators, we have chosen to use a bot for give other users ownership. In this case it's vital that uptime of the bot is good, or the channel will be op-less.
Unfortunately the bot has crashed twice in 2 weeks. This requires the bot to rejoin (could be done via cron) and would require an operator to manually make the bot operator.

The reason we cannot assign new operators and make the bot operator of the channel via chanserv is that our channel no longer has an owner on freenode. The owner's nick was dropped because of inactivity for more than a year. It requires us to fill out a form for a group request and Freenode takes a few years to process due to the huge backlog. A solution would be to ask the 2 still somewhat active operators to make bot operator and trusted other users can use the bot to gain op and kick/ban/devoice people.
How can I figure out why the eggdrop has crashed?
