We're not developing 1.9. No work has been done on it since years. All our effort is focused on 1.6 and the fact that 1.9 is publicly available doesn't come with any claims that it works or should be used.

There's an opportunity gone wanting then.

The prudent action would be to not make any available if they're dead in the water.

It was made available back when it used to be actively developed. The nightly snapshot of 1.9 is already removed from the development section and the cvs is still accessible. We don't make any false claims about it so I see no harm in leaving it out for the curious ones.

Fair enough :)

Pity though, the idea of being able to use languages besides Tcl was good.
