I am using eggdrops since 2000 on many system, like Suse Debian and more.
Now a got a strange Problem.
First I copied my Eggdrop vom a Suse-OS to my new Server. Opteron (64bit) with Debian on it.
But when I start the Bot he launched to the background but will never join the Network.
So I started it with -n and everything works fine.
---
After that I downloaded the lates egg-version with no further scripts.
But well with the same result .
with /eggdrop
[19:15] === MyBot: 78 channels, 9 users.
Launched into the background (pid: 27135)
<==> But dienst enter the Network.
Process is still in list
with eggdrop -n it enters the network and all chans.
the moment I am starting it wit "nohup"
But well.
I didn't found anything about it in this board, so sorry if i missed something.
When you say that you copied your bot(s) across different operating systems, I certainly hope you did not copy the binary nor modules.
Those need to be compiled for the OS eggdrop runs on.
Thx.
But well I got only One Lib-Version.
And no, after the first trs I installed the latest eggie without any old data.
And it still runs when its not in background. So it can't be a lib-problem, or?
Hello, has anyone found a solution to this? My eggdrop, .17 won't connect to any server either, unless the -n flag is used. It appears to run okay, with a pid given. All logs remain empty. Someone said to install an earlier version of TCL, we have the latest, but I don't fancy trying that. Yet to find uninstall instruction for it! Using FC5, btw.
To downgrade your Tcl/tk refer to your operating system's documentation (website/forum). You should also look at ~doc/COMPILE-GUIDE regarding anything 'quirky' compiling eggdrop for your OS..
