can i use my own linux web hosting to run this stuff? I dont see why I would need to purchase two different webhosting things.

if it is your machine, the answer is "yes, of course you can"

if you mean that you are wanting to run eggdrop on a linux machine on which you have only a web hosting account, the answer is "most web hosters have IRC blocked, you have to ask them about that"

I just bought webhosting from websolvents.com Ill have to ask the owner about that stuff.

If you use Linux you can run eggdrop or on Windows a 'Windrop', you do not necessarily have to have a shell account.
Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.
