cmd window refuses to close

Post by MrMike19597 »

I have loaded windows xp professional x64-bit the bot seems to run fine and everything but theres one problem, when i click the ".exe" file to initiate the bot it opens the bot loads an goes to the channel but the command box crashes.. although the bot still stays connected and works fine, does anyone know why its doing that? i am running 1.6.18.

forgot to mention that if i open the regular command prompt an "CD" to the directory it works fine an doesnt crash, but if i click the actual bots ".exe" it crashes.

windrop, not eggdrop

This is not a problem.
Your command prompt is not "crashing", it is simply closing.

This is because windrop (and eggdrop) are designed to become background applications. There is no need for an open cmd screen to run the bot as it is not normally interactive through the cmd prompt.

Right, but when i click x on the cmd window to close it (its supposed to close on its own, but it doesnt) i get the popup "windows cannot end this program. It may need more time to complete an operation. To return to windows an check the status of the program, click cancel. If you choose to end the program immediately, you will lose any unsaved data. To end the program now click end now." so i click end now but the bot continues to run fine, but in windows x32-bit the window would close on its own after loadup now its loading up fine on x64-bit but not closing the window.

This has nothing to do with eggdrop and all to do with another Microsoft bug by the looks of it.

You may find a solution at Microsoft Help and Support.
