I am following every single step posted on this site under "Enhancing your eggdrop" to link to bots (without using botnetop or any other script).
I just want to bo able to use the code "putbot $botnick ..."
The weird thing is ... although they both acknowledge each other as bots with flag b (I do .whois in both and it displays info) ... they are not Linking !
Whenever I try .bots on either bots ... it says "no bots linked" ! How can this be ??

Have you followed the linking process exactly, to the conclusion of getting a "linked to blah" message.
If not, go back and follow the linking instructions carefully.
Once you are linked, you will not have this issue.

Yes I did follow the exact steps, but the Leaf Bot is not trying to link to the Hub even after I set its flag to +h

What happens if you type ".link <hubbot>" in the leafs partyline
* replaceing <hubbot> with it's bot nickname

check if your bots are compiled with the same nick and handle length.
They won't link if it is different.
