Trying to connect, connects, disconnects

Post by Draggie »

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help me with this one, i tried the search function but didn't find anything that could help me.

My eggdrop 1.6.19 was up and running without any problems on my dedicated server for months.
Two days ago he went offline (ping time out) and now if i want to start, it justs connects and immidiently disconnetcs.
When on ssh: ./eggdrop -nt eggdrop.conf
[16:25] Trying server irc.server.here:6667
[16:25] Connected to irc.server.here
[16:25] Disconnected from irc.server.here
[16:26] Trying server irc.secondserver.here
[16:26] Connected to irc.secondserver.here
[16:26] Disconnected from irc.secondserver.here
Etc...
I found the topic http://forum.egghelp.org/viewtopic.php?t=18080 but that is not the issue here.
There is no ban gline of anything like that on the irc server.
On the dedicated server itself i didn't change anything (don't know if the provider of the dedicated server did an upgrade)
Can someone help me with this, i'm out of ideas...

Thx

In the interest of gathering more information, try having your bot connect to a different irc server and/or network.

Actually, try a few.

See what happens. ... does it connect ok to something different?... or do you get the same results?

Just trying to narrow down the possibilities of what has changed.

I've seen this happen a few times myself with 1.6.20 (and 1.8 cvs) eggdrops. Nothing seems to work, until a .restart, and then it's just fine again...

I think he means logging into the bot - possibly via telnet and issuing the .restart command. This is not the same as starting the bot via command line.
