I've seen this script work on an IRC network whith no problems at all.
This network is not active anymore but I still remember it.
This is the new home of the egghelp.org community forum.
All data has been migrated (including user logins/passwords) to a new phpBB version.

It is worth trying to find out which network it was, and try and contact the owner.
I myself have never heard of or seen such a script in action, as it's far too resource intensive, and would work far bettert with sinple network links, or using a text relay only.
I don't even understand the reason behind using such a script. It doesn't give you any advantages, is a pain to maintain and is nothing but waste.
