rp_sflood

Post by Yourname »

Yes. What exactly is rp_sflood?

Description grabbed from components.txt
Spam repeat flood, kick on repeats:seconds.

But I dont know what it means. I assumed that it might be lines involving, website spam. Like Visit www.egghelp.org.

My settings for that is 3:25, which means 3 spam repeats in 25 seconds will get you kicked.

I repeated www.egghelp.org thrice within 25 seconds, and it kicked me out with the reason that's given in rp_breason

rp_breason is the kick reason to rp_bflood, which is described in components.txt as a Large repeat flood, whose settings happen to be 4:40.

So, I mean, the kick needs to be classfieid under spam repeat, but got classified in large repeat. The same thing happened when I tested for rp_kflood (small repeat flood) whose settings are 3:60, but again, the kick got classified under rp_bflood.

Can someone help me out please?

The rp_sreason description hints at what it is.

A conventional repeat flood is a rapid repeat of anything that goes something like this:

[10:00] <nick> blah
[10:00] <nick> blah
[10:00] <nick> blah
[10:00] <nick> blah

A "spam" type flood is an intermittent repeat of a long sentence, like this:

[10:00] <nick> hey everyone I have a problem can someone help me please????????????
[10:01] <nick> hey everyone I have a problem can someone help me please????????????
[10:02] <nick> hey everyone I have a problem can someone help me please????????????

It's not a "flood" but an annoying repeat done over a few minutes. The length of the string is important, because it's common for someone to legitimately repeat "hehe" or "lol" several times in a few minutes during a conversation, but long string repeated at a similar interval is likely to be "spam".

Using a setting of 3:25 won't let it do the job it was intended for.
