strange botnetop problem

strange botnetop problem

i've setup a small botnet of 3 bots but after restarting one of them it no longer gets invited or opped in any chans, i've read the faq on this and gone through every step but still nothing, they have correct flags and are linked ok, anything else i can check? everything was working fine before restarting...

Have you changed the v-hsot used by the bot by any chance?

If so, you need to make the other bots aware of this, by changing the hostmask records as well.

Hostmasks is how bots recognise each toher, and other users. If it was only by nickname and flags, a nobody could gain OWNER status, just by usign the owners nickname while he is off IRC>

nothing has changed, although all the bost ahve very similar hosts i added hosts like nick!ident@*isp.com and they are recognised fine, also double checked flags etc... :(

found the probelm, somehow on the leaf the hub bot lost the +o flag after a restart, any reason for this?

Yes. This can happen what a leaf doing receive information about the hub during uiserfile transfer.

When you share userfiles, the leaf will base its new userfile on the sent information.

This information, doesn't include info about the hub (because the hub doesn't send it).

All you have to do, is add a user-record on the hub, declaring the flags the hub should have.
