secure older eggdrop versions?

Post by mordac »

Hello, I used to use eggdrop back around 1.1.5, and never had a problem with it. However, now that I am going to compile one again, I am concerned about which versions (new and old) are considered "secure". That is, which versions have no known exploits or botnet hacks? Does anyone recommend an older (stable, secure) version to use?

Or is it the case that all of the older versions have some universal bug that makes them exploitable, and that I should use at LEAST a certain version or newer to avoid catastrophe. (if this is the case, what is that version?)

I'm sure most people will tell me to use the newest version, but I'd like to avoid the bloat if I could.

Botnet hacks and stuff related are due the incompetence of the user, not due the eggdrop, keep this clear in your mind.. Get an botnet pack that suits your needs and has some *protection* in it, like netbots.
Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.
