I'm getting this message on eggdrop after I edit the .conf file, etc.:
STARTING BOT IN USERFILE CREATION MODE.
Telnet to the bot and enter 'NEW' as your nickname.
OR go to IRC and type: /msg <botname> hello
This will make the bot recognize you as the master.
You have installed modules but have not selected an encryption
module, please consult the default config file for info.
The bot however is still not online. And I'm trying to telnet to the localhost with the port number I set beside the listen command in the .conf file, and it's not working.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Could it be a firewall problem? If yes, how do I fix it?

If you have added some servers it should connect (if it dosen't encount any problems when connectiong). Next you should telnet to it, telnet ip port and login with NEW then folow the instructions he tells you to do.
Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.
Thanks caesar. I finally got my bot online and mssged it and all that, and it's working. The telnet is also working now. It's just that the host is crowded and sometimes the bot goes off IRC, but that's OK, nothing to do with the bot.
