Sharing user files

Post by Ofloo »

What is the point of sharing user files does it mean like when i create one bot (hub) that i add all the users to it will share it over the botnet with the other bots ??? If so does this work for chan files as well and i don't see a downside on this there probaly is witch is it ? i mean security or something ?

yes, sharing files means (if properly configured) when you add users to the hub (don`t forget to .save) it will SHARE it with other bots (once again, if properly configured)

downside ? demands more ressources/bandwidth/
security ? i suppose if a leaf bot was on a poorly secured box, someone could have access to the userfile

chanfiles are different, basic eggdrop won`t join a channel by what the chanfil is set (from the hub) , you need to have the bot join all channels, then it would save modes/settings

if you link a bot, then have that bot join a channel, you may need to unlink it then relink it so the bot saves the channel users.

the point of sharing files is mainly due to the fact that you set users on one bot, and not 10+ seperate bots
