I'm behind a NAT router, didn't forward any ports for irc. The other person trying to connect is also behind a NAT router WITH ports forward for irc. It says unable to connect if he uses the /ctcp command but if he right clicks my name, DCC, then Chat.. it works fine. Funny how the latter works, shouldn't the /ctcp work since he is initiating the connection and has the right ports forwarded. He can send and receive files to/from other people on irc without any problems.
umm is the bot also on NAT? if yes sounds like the bot is confused as to what its real ip is ( nat-ip set wrong) or is having trouble getting a dcc port...try putting a small range in reserved-portrange .. and forwarding them.

bot is also on NAT, i tried specifying a port range in eggdrop.conf and forwarding the ports on router but to no avail I also set the nat-ip to my WAN ip..
I still don't get why DCC chat works without the /ctcp
