Removing characters from a string with regsub

Hi,

Suppose if I want to remove spaces from a string
would this be the command?

The $arg string variable will remove spaces from
the string and form the new $text variable with
the spaces removed.

Is this correct?

regsub -all " " $arg "" text


If so, can the same be done for alphabets
and numbers,

Like using \[A-Z\] to remove all upper case chars
and \[0-9\] to remove all numbers from the string.

Something like:

regsub -all "\[A-Z\]" $arg "" text
regsub -all "\[0-9\]" $arg "" text
