Hi ViaraiX

You can get 1.7 trough CVS. You can find instruction on using CVS somewhere on http://www.eggheads.org.
Personaly I don't think you should bother with it unless you are a developer as it probably won't even compile on at the moment.

As masskilla sugested, you shouldn't even consider trying it.

guppy has made it clear that 1.7 is of alpha quality (AKA, a brain fart on paper).

It is doubtful you will manage to get it compiled, even then it is likely to crash after a certain state while running.

You also need to upgrade several packages on your system before it can compile.

Let's make the bot quit after 1/2 hour, that's easy enough.

Although honestly I think the fears you guys have with people running the cvs version are a bit exaggerated

No body has sais anything about a fear of running 1.7.

I was stating that it should not be run, as it is only the mailing list or here they are gonna run too, when something goes wrong.

Can you tell me honestly that somthing is not gonna go wrong with 1.7 when some1 uses it?

I have fears of people using the cvs now that crashes when people /quit ~ I've had a ton of people ask when 1.8.0 is out since 1.6.8 was the last version of 1.6 hehe ... and they are already upgrading to the 1.7 cvs because its almost stable (even though its not).

1.8 seems so far away it's weird to even hear it mentioned!

I'm not sure how version numbers usually work, but there is so much changing in this version that it seems like it should be 2.0. Or maybe even 5.0. What qualifies for a major version change?

If I remember from the mailing-list, nobody knew.

The last I remember reading (it was while I moving house, and I was using the archive to do my reading), they decided to look into version number, nearer to stable public release.
