Owner behaving like bot

Post by davedude »

I run a very small private irc server. Currently I have 2 eggdrop bots (homer and cletus) running in there for learning purposes. In their .conf files it is specified that the owner is dave_. When I log into the channel (as dave-linux) with the bots I execute the following command /CTCP <bot> chat so that I can enter my username and password and issue the bots commands.

Where the problem lies (perhaps it is a feature? ) is my nick dave-linux behaves just like bots without my intervention. My nick will kick, ban etc. Is this supposed to happen as a user?

Hi davedude,

You dont mention what irc client you are using, but it would seem it has some routines loaded for chan control that are kicking in. Many clients have these built in, so check the clients docs/help.

ohh I knew I would leave out some important info. Running UnrealIRCd v3.2-RC2fix on RH9 kernel 2.4.20-30.9 and Eggdrop 1.6.15

Will check into those docs. I don't recall this happening in the beginnning, but a more recent development and I am not sure what has triggered it. Undoubtedly fingering the wrong keys ;)
