nicknames that end in } and ] example ghost{S} or ghost[s] are not recognised?

These characters have a special meaning in Tcl. EGgdrops config file is simply a Tcl script, in its simplest form.

As such, they also have a special meaning there.

You can escape the charcters, so the bot uses them correctly.
