Never been able to DCC chat with my bot... Help?!

Post by Assmonkey »

OK, I'll try to give as much info as possible.

I connect to the internet through a Netgear RT314 (router) which is connected to my ADSL modem.

I have two computers accessing the internet through this router:
Workstation [Win XP SP1] with internal IP: 192.168.10.2
Server [Win 2K Pro SP4] with internal IP: 192.168.10.5

The server has the eggdrop running and everything works fine EXCEPT when I try to DCC chat with the bot from my workstation. I have forwarded the correct DCC ports (and passive range) to the server and I have even tried putting the server in the DMZ (i.e. ALL incoming requests are directed to the server). Nothing seems to work.
I also run a software firewall but I have disabled that too trying to narrow down the problem/solution.

I use Klient on my workstation to connect to IRC and I think I have set the correct DCC settings there as well. I also tried mIRC just to eliminate the problem being with Klient but I got the same problem.

I've tried reading through many of the DCC problem posts here on this forum but I still can't solve this issue.
Now, some of you might think it's better to use telnet to administer the bot but I don't. It does work perfectly though.

Now I need your help in trying to solve this problem once and for all. I need someone who has the knowledge and a bit of time to spare to this thread and not just leave one reply to never return to it.

If you need more info (Klient settings, conf-stuff) just post and I'll give it.

Thanks very much in advance.

Ou need to open ports in your router for dcc.Go to your roter then lan settings, then special aplications, then open ports between 2000 to 5000.

As my original post said, I have already tried that.

Here's one thing I've been wondering about in the conf-file.

set my-hostname "localhost"
set my-ip "127.0.0.1"

What exactly am I supposed to put in those as my outside IP is dynamic and changes now and then?
Wouldn't the same thing happen with my hostname when my IP changes?

I do have a dyndns.org address, could I put that in my-ip and would it work?

EDIT: Here's what the prompt output says when I try to DCC chat or CTCP chat the bot:

[14:05] dequeue_sockets(): errno = 128 (Transport endpoint is not connected) on
8
[14:07] Password timeout on dcc chat: [Assmonkey]~admin@**********.*****.com
