Windrop not joining channel
Windrop not joining channel
I just recently set up a windrop and after many many problems solved by your FAQ, I finally got it running without errors, albeit only in -n mode. I messaged the bot and set up the password, then I restarted the bot and now it won't respond to anything. It never shows up in the channel either. Where in the config file do I set the Channel I want the bot to join? And BTW it keeps on saying No Ident Response.
What's your windrop version ?
I know the bug with eggdrop and bad tcl-thread detection, I don't really know about windrop. Did you download the last stable version at http://windrop.sourceforge.net/downloads.html ?

Perhaps if we talk about it some, we'll get some more info about your Windrop.
Some things that come to mind:
Is your Windrop on the same computer as the irc client you are using to message it?
Are you trying to log into the partyline, via DCC? By doing a normal DCC chat with the bot?
Have you tried this command? : /ctcp botnick chat
You said it won't respond to anything. Can you explain a bit? What have you tried?
Is it possible that your hostmask changed, after you said Hello to the bot and became owner? If so, the bot won't "know" you.

Are you behind a firewall? (software or hardware.. or both) If so, is whatever port you have configured the bot to listen on, and open port?
As for getting it to join a channel - I suggest we put that off for a bit, and first get you in control of the bot. ( You can easily add channels, and make the bot join and leave them, once you get so you can enter the partyline. )

Here, you can get a free client, that will do not only SSH, but also telnet:

and see the default setting there. Is that what yours is now?
Notice that, there, it is backgrounded in pink? Means you need to change that.

It has been a while, since I set up a windrop. But I do believe that you need to configure it to use an open port.... a port that is forwarded.
If your firewall is a Windows software firewall, check it. Be sure that your windrop is allowed. Same for your IRC client.
If you have a router, check it too. Usually, you can enter the router's config, using a web browswer.
I'm sorry that I can't be more definitive... it has just been quite a while since I did it with a windrop.

2 suggestions, check the .chan file and make sure the channels aren't listed as +inactive ... and switch your irc client to the computer's internal ip address to dcc the bot (you'll have to switch back to the external ip address to dcc anyone not on the same computer). If using mIRC irc client, the commands to use are:
.server: localinfo -u
.lan: localinfo -h
.server: localinfo -u
.lan: localinfo -h

Run Putty.
In the "hostname" box, enter: localhost
In the "port" box, enter: 60537
and try it, when your bot is up and running. Let us know what happens.
I've tried the above... using putty, on my Windows 7 computer, while running Windrop on the same computer. (Using the 'listen' port that my bot is config'd for), and I could log in to my test Windrop.
Ok on Icechat. I'm not familiar with it though.
For your router's configuration:
Examine your router for brand name, model number, etc.
Then visit: http://portforward.com/
At that site, are listed MANY routers, along with step-by-step intructions for forwarding ports. Take some time, and explore that site, before plunging ahead.

Personally, I think that is a good thing. This way, the bot will not join any channels. As of now, you haven't been able to log in on the partyline - either via DCC or telnet - to be able to control the bot with commands.
I like to be able to do that - *before*- the bot ever joins a channel.
And, once in the partyline, either via DCC or telnet - it is very easy to add channels to the chanfile with commands.
Comcast set up my CG814WG v2 for me, and now I can't access http://192.168.0.1/ with any of the combos I found online, including comcast/1234 and admin/password and many permutations of those. Is there any way for me to find the password without resetting the router? I need to access this for the instructions in portforward.com.
