Yup. Eggdrop v1.6.19+ctcpfix Handlen32. I chose that version of the two listed because DALnet supports nicknames longer than 9 characters. Should I download the CVS version?CrazyCat wrote:What's your windrop version ?
I know the bug with eggdrop and bad tcl-thread detection, I don't really know about windrop. Did you download the last stable version at http://windrop.sourceforge.net/downloads.html ?
Yes the bot is on the same computer as me, as I don't feel like getting a shell.willyw wrote:Hello,
Perhaps if we talk about it some, we'll get some more info about your Windrop.
Some things that come to mind:
Is your Windrop on the same computer as the irc client you are using to message it?
Are you trying to log into the partyline, via DCC? By doing a normal DCC chat with the bot?
Have you tried this command? : /ctcp botnick chat
You said it won't respond to anything. Can you explain a bit? What have you tried?
Is it possible that your hostmask changed, after you said Hello to the bot and became owner? If so, the bot won't "know" you.
See: http://www.egghelp.org/faq.htm#010
What happens if you try: /msg botnick help
Does it respond at all?
What IRC client are you using?
Can you telnet into the bot?
Are you behind a firewall? (software or hardware.. or both) If so, is whatever port you have configured the bot to listen on, and open port?
As for getting it to join a channel - I suggest we put that off for a bit, and first get you in control of the bot. ( You can easily add channels, and make the bot join and leave them, once you get so you can enter the partyline. )
About the No Ident Response : I don't know. Maybe somebody else will jump in here, and can comment on that for you.
I believe you will have to use:yutsi wrote:

Someday you may want to try it, if not with this bot, then with something else.Yes I tried /dcc and /ctcp.
I don't know how to telnet.
Go here:Yes I'm behind a firewall, but I don't know anything about the ports the bots communicating on. I just left that at default in config file.
Alright. I downloaded PuTTY and PuTTYTel. My IRC client is Icechat. I changed listen 3333 all to listen 60537 all. I checked Windows firewall and it is letting windrop through. And I can't get my routers configuration page.willyw wrote:I believe you will have to use:yutsi wrote:

/ctcp botnick chat
then.

Here, you can get a free client, that will do not only SSH, but also telnet:

For now though, let's try with your IRC client, to dcc chat the bot. You forgot to mention what your IRC client program is though.
Go here:Yes I'm behind a firewall, but I don't know anything about the ports the bots communicating on. I just left that at default in config file.
http://eggwiki.org/Eggdrop.conf and find the part:
" # This opens a telnet port by which .... "
and see the default setting there. Is that what yours is now?
Notice that, there, it is backgrounded in pink? Means you need to change that.
Go here:
http://www.egghelp.org/setup.htm
and scroll down to:
"listen 3333 all: you will almost certainly want to change this, as ...."
for some info on that setting.
It has been a while, since I set up a windrop. But I do believe that you need to configure it to use an open port.... a port that is forwarded.
If your firewall is a Windows software firewall, check it. Be sure that your windrop is allowed. Same for your IRC client.
If you have a router, check it too. Usually, you can enter the router's config, using a web browswer.
I'm sorry that I can't be more definitive... it has just been quite a while since I did it with a windrop.

If using mIRC irc client, the commands to use are:
.server: localinfo -u
.lan: localinfo -h
It might be an interesting experiment, to try to telnet into your bot, using Putty.yutsi wrote: ...

If that is all that is in there, then you have no channels presently configured in the bot.yutsi wrote: ...
